Maleficent Movie Review

“Maleficent” is a predictable, yet good movie based around how some view humanity. Why is Maleficent evil in the 1st place, and what did Princess Aurora do to bring such a wrath down upon her?
I liked the story, because Maleficent was never evil-spirited; she was a woman scorned and hurt by both love and betrayal. People hear of this sort of thing a lot, and unfortunately that is one of the many things that humanity is known for.
Maleficent believed in true love, and that love broke down walls. The two came from different worlds, but that didn’t matter. Change happens, and while she lived her life happy and free; he fell into the trap of wanting what others had, the need for money and power. He got his wish, and the price was Maleficent.
He used their love to take what he wanted; he raped her of her wings, broke her will, shattered her pride, and left her shameful and alone. She was broken and couldn’t move on. Over time that shame turned to anger, and that anger into revenge; not for all mankind, but for one; but in her heart was love, and that love grew, and that same loved saved her.
Overall the movie was good, and I liked the story behind the story. I am hoping to see great things out of Elle Fanning, who played Princess Aurora, who is growing out of her sister’s shadow. I cannot tell if she is acting, or if the world through her eyes is the most wonderful place. She had a similar wonderment as the home schooled kid in “We Bought a Zoo”.
Great movie as Maleficent was both the hero and the villain, and nobody could blame her for her actions. Plus anytime that you can have Murdock from the A-Team fight anybody is great; even though Sharlto Copley himself is a terrible actor. I give this movie 2 thumbs up, and I recommend you wait to see it when it is released on DVD.
