A Million Ways to Die in the West Movie Review

“A Million Ways to Die in the West” is a movie that you should either love or hate, and I did both; one minute I hated it, and the next I loved it.
There was nobody there to rope in Seth MacFarlane when they were writing this movie, because it was “Family Guy” on steroids.
How many people see Brian when they look at Seth MacFarlane?
The film actually had a good plot, but this isn’t a John Wayne western; in fact John Wayne is probably trying to get under his casket to get further away from this so-called western.
The entire cast did a fantastic job, and some of them went outside of their normal roles, while others stayed the same. Either way the cast was great. What I hated was half of the humor, half of the story, and everything that pushed the “R” rating. Seth MacFarlane is hilarious as long as he can stay confined to TV guidelines. The word I’m looking is raunchy…I don’t like raunchy.
“Great Scott” the cameos were the best part of the movie. Not only did MacFarlane get heavy hitters to star in his movie, but the A-listers who just showed up took the movie to another level. Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Emmett Brown working on the DeLorean after being stuck in the old west; Dennis Haskins (not quite an A-lister) but still, Mr. Belding was in the movie; Ewan McGregor as a nobody cowboy; Bill Maher (again not an A-lister) but doing his thing; Ryan Reynolds as a cowboy who gets shot by the bad guy; Patrick Stewart’s beautiful voice, because we never actually see him; and Jamie Foxx as Django.
Top 3 best movie moments:
1. Doc Brown and the entire “Back to the Future” homage, including the music following the clip.
2. Django walking up to the shot the slave game and then shooting.
3. Ryan Reynolds getting killed for absolutely no reason and that is always a good thing in a movie.
I had a hate / love relationship with this movie, and even though the bad was really bad; I believe that the cameos and strong actors saved it. I give this movie 1 thumb up, and I recommend you wait to see it when it is released on DVD.
