Promo Video Shoot

I am currently interviewing people that would like to share their story for a promo video for my new cooking show. There are a couple of ways to do it:

1. Capture you talking on camera.

2. Photo of you with your message.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Movie Review

“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” (say that 10 times fast…it’s a mouthful) is a needed and necessary link, but also un-needed and ridiculous at the same time.
Must every Caesar have his Brutus? (Obviously there was more than one Caesar, but that would take away from my point)
Caesar is a good person…err…ape, and the leading man (who is not Gary Oldman, nor an ape) is also a good person; however and whatever their struggles and differences are, they cannot stop the future from happening. Not a spoiler alert…there have been many “Planet of the Apes” movies over the last few decades, and seeing any of them (except maybe the prequel to this one) will tell you…it doesn’t turn out to well for the humans.
James Franco’s character had his part to play in the progression of the movie, although James Franco himself is not actually in the movie (the people behind the making of films are sly folks).
“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” has its purpose, and it really does explain the lead up to what will eventually happen; however, the movie itself sucked and wasn’t that good. EXAMPLE: Gary Oldman had absolutely no purpose in the movie. Remove his character and the movie wouldn’t be any different. That should be a crime, because Mr. Oldman is one of the greatest actors of our time; he has range, he has depth, and he can actually act. It’s sad, but it helps prove my point that the movie sucks.
I give this movie two opposable thumbs down, and I recommend you wait to see it when it comes out on TV.

PLEASE HELP!

My cooking project is going slow, but there is a new backer. I don’t know who it is because there is no info at this time, other that her name is Jessica. Thank you Jessica!

PLEASE HELP! It’s an all or nothing kind of gig. Spread the word
…donate a dollar…share an encouraging message.

If everyone in the world gave me $1 I’d be a billionaire. If everyone I knew gave me $1 I’d be doing ok. If everyone who liked me gave me $1 I’d owe people money (not really because everyone loves me).

Changes to the Reward

I changed the rewards (will not affect the 3 backers before the change). Lemon Cakes are delicious, and I’ll put mine up against anybody, including a very famous world-wide coffee joint’s version.

Why make the chan
ge? Because the new sponsorship reward is more personal, it highlights who I am, and to me it means more.

I was up last night thinking about where I am going, and the fact that I had 2 lemon cake conversations this week. “Put yourself on a plate” and that is what I am doing. I love to cook, and so I’m sharing that love.

For every $25 donated, that sponsor/backer will receive 6 individual bite-sized lemon cakes delivered to them.

EXAMPLE: Donate $75 and you’ll receive 18 individual bite-sized lemon cakes (6 bite-sized cakes per every $25).

(Photo is of a larger sized lemon cake, not the bite-sized version)

Bacon Pancakes

Delicious…who doesn’t love bacon pancakes? Except my son…I believe that I have found his kryptonite. If he gets in trouble I should make him one…just one…and by the time he’s done we all would have forgotten why he was in trouble in the first place.

Shut Up Already

The rewards for backing my project are pretty public, but not everyone one wants their name out there. If you want to keep your name out of it and remain anonymous, please let me know and I’ll do exactly that.

“Wayfarer Farms” A Raw Uncut Documentary…Rabbits

We filmed this video documentary at Wayfarer Farms last Fall. We filmed a lot of footage, but this was the only savable tape.

This documentary is uncut, and so you will see the mess-ups, lighting problems, sound quality errors, and so-forth; stuff that would be fixed during editing, but it felt right to keep it raw.

***WARNING*** Rabbits on this farm are raised for food, and this video will explain and demonstrate this process. The footage may be graphic for some viewers.

There is so much more to learn about urban farming, and so we will be going back to re-shoot the entire segment (not just the rabbits), so that we can share it with you. Stay tuned…

Transformers: Age of Extinction Movie Review

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” is by far the best movie in the Transformers franchise.

Stereotypically sequels, and sequels to sequels, are supposed to royally suck; it also seems the further they take a movie (i.e. part 2,3,4…10) the less likely I am inclined to watch it. However, I have been happily proven wrong quite a few times in recent history, just as I was in the newest Transformer flick.

Mark Wahlberg is no Shia LaBeouf, and that ladies and gentlemen is a good thing. Marky Mark is not the strongest actor out there, but the character Cade Yeager, could have literally been the real-life Texan version of Mr. Wahlberg…the script was written for the man.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” does answer one very important age-old question…what killed the dinosaurs? All this time, the human race has been debating over comets and ice ages, when in reality it was something else altogether. I have faith in humanity, but you just know that this movie is going to influence some people to think “well just maybe”, and some teacher is going to have to slap a parent for letting their kid come to school with a dumb-ass answer to an age-old question.

A bigger question though is, what would it take for Autobot leader Optimus Prime to murder a human?

Every Transformer nerd should be excited about Transformers 4’s inclusion of the Dinobots, even if they are never outright named. The very disappointing and heart-breaking part of the Dinobots onscreen time is that Grimlock, the Tyrannosaurus Rex and leader of the Dinobots, never speaks. Who doesn’t love Grimlock’s “Incredible Hulk” like caveman type speech? Their slow wit and dinosaur sized brains (even though the movie sort of shows that…a little bit) is partially what makes the Dinobots so great in the first place.

The hero of the movie has to be the Autobot Hound, who is voiced by John Goodman. Hound is a great character, but add that with John Goodman’s iconic voice and you have a winner.

Plus who knew that Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) could pull off the tough guy routine?

“Transformers: Age of Extinction” is the best film in the series, and I really enjoyed it. I give this movie two dino-sized thumbs up, and recommend seeing this in theaters.
