This is where you would come to work on things outside of creative writing and resume building; focusing on getting to that next level in your career or in your personal life, because no matter how hard you work it comes down to how good you look on paper. That sounds harsh, and it is, but the people outside of your core group do not know who you are or know what you have accomplished. You yourself and the people in your group will forget to mention at least some of the contributions that you have made because it is hard to remember everything over the course of time. Have you ever heard “I didn’t think about that”, “I didn’t think that was important”, or “I forgot all about that”? If we are talking about a person’s career, those quotes can be the difference between getting a raise and/or promotion, or being stuck in a position that a person is unhappy with.
