Elysium Movie Review

The dictionary uses words like paradise and perfection to define “Elysium”.
In mythology, “Elysium” (also called The Elysian Fields) is where heroes who were blessed by the gods went after death. This is a perfect name for this movie as there was a defined separation between the heavens and Earth.
I am going to come right out and say itThis is the best movie that I have seen this year!”
One can make the argument that the movie is nothing more than an in your face creative spin on current practices in the world today, especially here in the United States; political corruption and the big business that we call medicine. Is it true? Is medicine big business? The rich are able to afford treatments, while the rest of us suffer until we die. It is true in society today, and the movie does a great job making that point even clearer.
The movie is fantastic, with great writing and a well-rounded cast. There are some very graphic kill (and not kill) shots that do not add nor takeaway from the movie itself. Matt Damon is a great actor, even though he does not have a lot of range and has a lot of “Matt Damon” moments; he is still the person for the lead role because no one else could have done it.
If the movie was not good enough, you get to see Jason Bourne fight Murdock from the “A-Team”, both of who are super-sized and ready to kill.
“Elysium” is great! I give it two big thumbs up, and I recommend seeing this in theaters.
