“Muppets Most Wanted” did not live up to the franchise name.
It was a good blend of human to Muppet ratio, but it seems like they struggled to pull it together. The Muppets were solid. The human actors were solid. The writing was good, and the story was sound. Separated out like that the components were perfect, and the movie should have been as anticipated once put together, but it wasn’t; something kept it from being “The Muppets”.
The human aspect has always been my favorite part of any Muppet show, and this was no different. Usher as the usher, celebrity cameos, and who doesn’t love Ricky Gervais. Ray Liotta was perfect, and the best part is when Tina Fey tased Loki.
So like they say in a Siberian gulag, “Goodnight Danny Trejo!”
Although the movie really never came together, I still have to give it two thumbs up based on the franchise and what they tried to do in this film; however I recommend you wait to see it when it is released on DVD.
