These works are a collaboration between me, Chris Allred,
and my brother Michael Joseph Allred, who is known by his middle name to
friends and family as Joe, but who is also and equally known as Joker to many
people. The one thing to know about Joe is that he is a resident of a federal
penitentiary. Joe has partnered with me as an internal prison journalist to
find untold and unknown stories.

In this case the inmate who brought the story to light was only able to do so because he was incarcerated in the U.S. at the time (and remains so today) and the tale was told to him first hand by the survivors back home.

jail. The drug lord demanded his brother’s release “or else”. The government of
the South American country refused to release the brother and did not take the
kingpin’s threats very seriously.
